How We Turn Long-Form Content Into a Multi-Platform Strategy

Creating content for your business takes forever.

You have to come up with ideas, record videos, write emails, create social posts, and on an on.

It is is pain in the @$$.

So we came up with a way to make it a heck of a lot easier.

At our agency, we created a smart system for taking one idea and turning it into 20+ pieces of content.

This strategy offers 3 key benefits:

2) it increases our reach by delivering content where our audience prefers to engage.

3) it is wayyyyyyy faster and easier than the old way.

Here’s how we do it—and how you can, too.

Step 1: Create the Long-Form Piece

Everything starts with one solid piece of content. This is usually a podcast or a YouTube video.

It needs to be something substantial so you can break it down into multiple smaller pieces.

When creating this first piece, make sure it:

  • Offers valuable insights or actionable tips

  • Aligns with the interests and pain points of our audience

  • Can be broken into smaller sections that stand alone

This long-form content is where the heavy lifting happens, but don’t let this step intimidate you.

Some of the best content we’ve made for clients has come from a simple conversation between two key people (or them + a client).

Also, you only have to do this once a month or so.

Step 2: Break It Down

With the long-form content ready, identify the most valuable points, stories, and insights.

Each takeaway becomes its own piece of content.

Don’t just copy and paste. Each platform has its own unique style, so we tweak the content to fit.

On LinkedIn, share thoughtful posts focused on business insights.

On Instagram, use visuals and snappy captions.

On Twitter (X), break ideas into bite-sized threads.

And for YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels, focus on short clips that grab attention immediately.

The goal is to deliver value without overwhelming the audience, no matter where they encounter the content.

Each piece reinforces the original idea but fits naturally within the platform where it’s shared.

Step 3: Maintain Consistency Without Repetition

While the message stays consistent, each piece of content offers a unique angle. This avoids redundancy and keeps the audience engaged.

For example, a podcast quote might become a LinkedIn carousel, while the same idea inspires a newsletter section.

It’s also worth remembering, most people will not see your first, 5th, or 22nd iteration of an idea. So keep recycling your own content in new and interesting ways.

Step 4: Build an Efficient Content System

Keep everything organized with a content calendar. This allows you to plan when and where each piece will be shared.

Use automation tools (like Buffer or Hootsuite) to handle posting and scheduling.

This system ensures you’re always ahead of schedule and nothing falls through the cracks.
